Some of Rydal Penrhos’ brightest young cricketers opened the season in fine form with an impressive win.
The school’s U13A side welcomed St Mary's College, Crosby on Monday, April 29 for their first competitive fixture of what promises to be a very busy summer term for the group.
They began their time in the field in stylish fashion, restricting the visitors to 71 all out thanks to a standout bowling display, with Arran Sen demonstrating his enormous potential once again with an incredible five-wicket haul.
The Lancashire U13 squad member and Colwyn Bay 2nds star turned in another exceptional performance to help himself to five wickets for the loss of just two runs, which saw the sports scholar take home the match ball as a result of his efforts.
Other bowling contributions of note came from Ollie Davies and Jonathan Osbourne, and the home side managed to chase down their required total with minimal fuss to seal an eye-catching ten-wicket victory.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “This was an extremely impressive performance from our U13A side, who all hit the ground running after a successful off-season as part of our winter nets programme.
“They are a very talented group who have gelled together superbly in such a short space of time, and hopefully this is the start of great things for them as they develop over their upcoming fixtures in a competitive environment.”
