An incoming sports scholar at Rydal Penrhos made an encouraging return to guide his regional cricket side to a notable victory.
Owen Reilly, who will be joining the school in September, played a starring role for North Wales Cricket League Premier Division side Pwllheli in their 26-run triumph at Denbigh.
The talented all-rounder began the day by opening the batting against a formidable home bowling attack, and he made a promising 20 from 56 deliveries before he was eventually removed from the crease.
He followed this up with the ball and produced a stunning eight-over spell that altered the course of the contest, claiming four wickets at the expense of 32 runs to lead the newly promoted side to sixth position in the standings following the success.
Owen has represented Wales from U11 level up to his current U17 status, while also being part of the Eryri set-up over a four-year period and is currently the U15 captain.
The bowling all-rounder, who began as a junior at Anglesey Aluminium CC, has been honing his skills at the Marylebone Cricket Club Foundation North Wales Hub at Rydal Penrhos alongside Menai Bridge captain Dion Holder over the winter months.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “For Owen to perform so well in his first game back is a testament to the talent he possesses with both bat and ball, and he is going to be another very exciting addition to our cricket programme during winter nets and the season next summer.”
