A group of Preparatory School cricketers helped their local side to a strong performance at a regional competition.
The seven Rydal Penrhos pupils formed part of the Mochdre Cricket Club side that took part in the Eryri Cricket U10 Soft Ball tournament, which was held at the Barn, Parc Eirias on Thursday, February 15
Competing against Abergele, Colwyn Bay, Llandudno, Bangor, Menai Bridge and Llanrwst in a series of round-robin fixtures, the Mochdre side produced a number of exceptional performances to finish in second spot for their efforts.
Keira Luke, Fflur Pierce, Maggie McDuff, Freddie MacLaverty and Grace Watkins, together with the brother duo of Cieran and Tomás Milligan, all performed well throughout, while Year 7 pupil George Watkins also contributed significantly as an assistant.
The majority taking part have developed their skills considerably thanks to Monday Winter Nets sessions put on by staff at Rydal Penrhos, which are led by Menai Bridge captain and Marylebone Cricket Club North Wales Hub head coach Dion Holden.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “It is great to see so many younger members of the Rydal Penrhos community enjoying their cricket and developing so well as part of our winter net sessions.
“We are very proud of the links we have generated with cricket sides across the region, which has seen a number of talented pupils go on to great success.
“Hopefully the seven involved will continue to progress as part of their ongoing development at Rydal Penrhos, and I would like to congratulate them all on a wonderful achievement.”
