Senior cricketers at Rydal Penrhos will look to start their season in style when they open their campaign this weekend.
The school has named its first XI squad for their trip to Christ College Brecon on Saturday, April 21, which is the start of a very busy summer term of fixtures for the group.
Upper Sixth Form pupil Llywelyn Cowell will skipper a side that boasts plenty of talented individuals who have been working hard on improving all aspects of their game under the leadership of coach Dion Holden and Head of Cricket Mike Leach.
Opening bowler Rafeez Mortuza will be looking to hit the ground running and record some strong figures from which to build, while Head Boy Alex Benfield, Henry Maitland-Davies and Jack Jones are other experienced members of the squad who will be relied upon to perform.
There is plenty of evidence that the youth coaching offered at the school is paying dividends, with a number of non-Sixth Formers also named in the 13-man squad.
These include the talented trio of Josh Lynch, Adrian Lewis and Jake Palmer-Reid, while North East Wales representative Michael Thomas and the improving Sam Bixby will also take the field for the senior side.
Year 7 star Arran Sen will also be given a chance to contribute despite his tender age, with the Lancashire youth prospect one of the youngest ever players in recent memory to be selected for the first XI.
