A talented young cricketer made an impressive start to the season with a standout display for a regional side.
Arran Sen, a Year 8 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, was part of the Colwyn Bay 2nd XI that took on Bangor University in a friendly fixture on Saturday, April 13.
The sports scholar and Lancashire U13 squad member is looking to make another step up with the newly promoted Liverpool and District Cricket League 2nd XI Premier Division side this summer, after impressing considerably with Bay’s youth set-up and third unit last term.
He made a strong opening to life in the middle during their weekend fixture, finishing as Bay’s top scorer with 42 after a series of outstanding shots against older and more experienced opposition.
This was followed by a superb bowling spell from the aspiring all-rounder as the Bay side fell to a narrow loss to the university, which featuring a starring guest appearance from new Bangor signing and Sixth Form pupil Owen Reilly, who made an unbeaten 82.
Colwyn Bay 2nds get their season underway at home to Orrell Red Triangle on Saturday, and Arran was recently tipped as a player to watch in a North Wales Pioneer article with senior skipper Sion Morris.
