A group of pupils at Rydal Penrhos have received praise for their application during a special fitness improvement scheme.
The school invited pupils to take part in a Couch to 5k Challenge over a period of nine-weeks, where they will be looking to improve their fitness levels in a relaxed setting with members of Rydal Penrhos’ passionate and committed staff team.
Their initial efforts during the initiative have seen considerable progress made by the determined group, who have all come on a significant amount in a short space of time.
The purpose of a couch-to-5K program is to give you time to acclimate and start to enjoy the benefits of running and the sense of accomplishment of completing a distance safely.
It has proven to be incredibly successful across the globe and has boosted running numbers on a widespread scale.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “The Couch to 5k initiative has gone over very well with the pupils that have taken part, and there can be fewer better places to boost your fitness levels than the picturesque Colwyn Bay and Rhos on Sea coastline here in beautiful North Wales.
“Hopefully this is a trend that can continue long into the future and I would like to congratulate all taking part on their sterling efforts so far, and to Miss James for her exceptional motivation during difficult periods for the group.”
