A group of aspiring chefs have been cooking up a storm as part of a newly formed Preparatory School initiative.
George Rozek, Martha-Rose Johnson, Noah Roberts, Felix Griffin, Bill Gan and Harry Nurse are part of Rydal Penrhos’ Cookery Club, who meet on a weekly basis under the expert guidance of Kate Oliver.
During their latest session, the Year 3 contingent produced a delicious rhubarb crumble with ice cream, and worked together as a group to come up with the tasty dish using the recipe and utensils provided.
The rhubarb used was sourced from Rydal Penrhos’ garden, which grows a number of different fruit and vegetables for entire Prep School to enjoy throughout the year.
This is the latest in a series of co-curricular activities and groups organised by the school’s dedicated staff, which provide each pupil living and learning at the site with different experiences and opportunities designed to enhance their overall development.
Deputy Head Alison Hind, said: “Our Cookery Club scheme has become an instant hit with those taking part, and it adds another dimension to our superb activity programme that captures the imagination of every pupil under our care here at Rydal Penrhos.
“Hopefully this is just the start of great things to come in terms of the club’s progression, and it was also heart-warming to see our school garden ingredients being used for their latest creation.”
