The aim of the Early Years Department is to provide the children with a safe, happy and stimulating environment in which they can develop at their own pace, socially, physically, emotionally and academically.
The children are encouraged to be self-motivated and independent, yet aware of their peers. The Early Years is a bridge from home to school and an introduction to the more structured environment they will encounter in Reception.
The department is colourful, spacious and ready for action!
Having its own separate entrance and play area, the department is divided into eight main learning areas, each of which links into the main body of the department: the use of identifiable and specific learning areas has been chosen because it enhances the children’s focus and concentration.
The learning rooms consist of a circle-time room and music area, construction, reading, discovery and outside areas, a creative room, a numeracy and literacy room and, finally, a role-play area.
The combination of skills developed in these complementary areas gives the children the broadest and most thorough educational – and enjoyable – experience.
The children can stay for either a whole day or, if preferred, they can attend our morning sessions. A healthy and substantial cooked meal is served at lunch-time for all pupils, including those attending our morning sessions.
