Two family members from Rydal Penrhos’ Prep and Senior sites have been acknowledged for their outstanding sporting contribution with a notable treble.
Cousins Lucy Carnall and Charlotte Payne, Year 12 and 4 pupils at the school, celebrated the impressive success last month, which is a culmination of their development under the guidance of Rydal Penrhos’ dedicated staff and their efforts with sporting sides throughout the region.
Lower Sixth Former Lucy was rewarded for a superb first season with the school’s Hockey side with half colours at the Sports Awards, which saw former world badminton number one and Olympic medallist Gail Emms attend as the special guest.
There was further cause for celebration within the family as Charlotte scooped a host of awards, including the best U9 girl at the Colwyn Bay Hockey Club presentation evening.
She also scooped two honours from Colwyn Netball Club thanks to her exceptional progression throughout the season, including the Junior League’s Most Improved Player title.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “We are enormously proud of the family connections throughout our rich history here at Rydal Penrhos, and with talent such as Lucy and Charlotte then this tradition is something that is sure to continue in the future.
“Both have shown a great application to all areas of school life and are thriving as a result, and they can be enormously proud of their contribution to the sporting success at the school throughout the academic year.
