Budding chefs tested their skills in a competitive environment in the pursuit of valuable house points at a special event.
Rydal Penrhos’ Senior Inter-House MasterChef competition took place on Wednesday, June 20, which saw the school’s four houses of Wesley, Morgan, Payne and Osborn battle it out for culinary bragging rights.
Each team came up with a series of dishes with a set amount of ingredients given to them for the task, and the dishes were judged by the staff team of Laura Gardener, Allen Boyd, Peter Lavery, Mike Farnell and Matthew Hubert.
After a highly competitive and tense afternoon in the kitchen, the Morgan team consisting of Head Boy Nick Fiorita and Isabelle Williams emerged victorious for their three creations of chicken and mushroom couscous, sea salt and herb bread and a chocolate mousse.
The Payne duo of Ben Dettmann and Laura O’Kelly secured second place for their fantastically presented meal, with Mason Clark and Nia Seenan of Wesley coming in third.
Rounding off the placings were the Osborn pair of Oleksandr Sorokin and Bohdan Diedov, and all received significant praise for their teamwork and work ethic throughout another hugely successful house competition.
Attention now turns to the Junior and Intermediate MasterChef events, which will take place on Monday, June 25 and Thursday 28 respectively.
