A pair of Boys’ Hockey sides are in the final stages of planning ahead of their tilt at further national success later this week.
Rydal Penrhos U18 and U16 squads will travel to Newtown on Thursday, April 26 to compete at the Welsh Schools’ Championships, where they will be looking to continue the school’s rich history of success in the competition.
Head of Hockey Phil Mather and coach Dan Rippon held a special training session with both squads on Monday, where they worked on a number of different elements to give them the best possible chance of succeeding at the showcase.
The U18 side has plenty of talent at their disposal, with Welsh internationals Josh Thomas and Jacob Heaton-Rue looking to contribute significantly throughout.
Head Boy Alex Benfield will skipper the side, while the likes of Zach Blomeley, Matthew Trumper, Sam Khorram-Sefat and Eddie Farrell are also expected to play huge roles.
It promises to be a busy day for Heaton-Rue, who will also captain the U16 side, and Farrell, Finlay Hare and Jasper Richardson also playing both games as they look defend their national crown.
Other notable inclusions are George Smith-Edwards, Zach Speakman, Kevin Farrell and Tegid Goodman-Jones, while the creative Adrian Lewis is another that could influence proceedings on the day.
