A talented hockey player has been rewarded for his overall influence with prominent leadership positions for the current campaign.
Josh Thomas, a Year 13 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, has been appointed captain of the school’s First XI by Head of Hockey Dominic Maguire.
The Welsh international has enjoyed a fantastic career both for Rydal Penrhos and with Colwyn Bay Hockey Club, with Josh playing a pivotal role in the U18 squad securing the National Schools’ Championship last year.
He also achieved a similar national triumph with the Bay side, and he has been a long-standing member of the Hockey Wales set-up and has developed his game significantly in that period.
The gifted shot-stopper is also a Prefect and Wesley House Captain, juggling an enormous amount as he gears up for his A-level examinations later this year.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Josh is a fantastic role model for our aspiring hockey players who want to follow in his footsteps, and this is going to assure his success in his well-deserved appointment as First XI captain for his final season at Rydal Penrhos.
“We have enjoyed a phenomenal amount of notable milestones recorded by our boys’ hockey sides in recent years, and hopefully our U18 and U16 squad members can make a good go of retaining their national titles as the season progresses.”
