A talented athlete added to his impressive list of accolades with a regional track and field treble.
Kieron McNamara, an Upper Sixth Form pupil at Rydal Penrhos, was part of a contingent that travelled to Bangor for the Eryri Athletics Championships, which took place earlier this month.
The 18-year-old boarding pupil managed to turn in a brilliant effort in the High Jump, which saw him come away with his first gold medal of the competition.
This was followed up by another outstanding performance in the Shot Putt to claim top spot on the podium for a second time, and he rounded off a sensational day by securing a treble with first in the Javelin.
It has been a fantastic year for the Lancashire U18 Rugby squad member, who has thrived since joining Rydal Penrhos in September 2016.
This was reflected in his overall progression in becoming a prominent role model for younger members of the Rydal Penrhos community, and a keen contributor to house and boarding events.
He has benefitted significantly from the school’s sports scholar programme, and he will no go for even more honours at the Welsh National Championships later this year.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Kieron has been a pleasure to have here at Rydal Penrhos and his over character and mannerisms have come on leaps and bounds since being part of our wonderful school.
“Our sports scholars are a constant source of pride to everyone at Rydal Penrhos thanks to their wonderful achievements, and Kieron has done a fantastic job of adding to this rich history of success.”
