Art teacher Suzy Morris set to reunite with estranged father this summer after lengthy search

A Preparatory School teacher has spoken of her delight after finding her estranged father following an extensive search.

Suzy Morris, who teaches Art at Rydal Penrhos, will be travelling to Canada after finding father John Binns, who now resides in British Columbia.

The teacher was also thrilled to find out that she has a half-brother and half-sister - John and Julie - who she will also be meeting for the first time this summer.

The search, which has taken Mrs Morris decades across a number of different avenues, came as a result of Mr Binns leaving his old life for anew love she was just a toddler.

She said: “I have searched for him all my life primarily through the post system early on, and then more recently through the internet and the BBC.

“I finally found my brother on social media site LinkedIn, and I only found him by looking for my dad’s name and thinking I was contacting him. Little did I know I had a brother with the exact same name.

“They all live in Canada, in British Columbia and Alberta. We are all meeting up for the first time in Vernon which is where my brother lives, there will be 14 of us all together, as I have nieces and nephews too.

“My father was a fireman and when I was two-years-old he rescued a lady out of a fire and fell in love. He left me and my mum and started a new life in Canada.”

Mrs Morris is an only child and she stated that finding out she had siblings was an “absolutely amazing” feeling, and she will be travelling to Canada with husband Terry.

“It has been a long and painful process, but finding him and my new relatives has made it all worthwhile,” she added.
