Art scholar Isabella sees award-winning Red Nose creation brought to life

A talented artist at Rydal Penrhos finally saw her creation brought to life following success in a high-profile national competition.

Isabella Peevor, a Year 7 pupil at the school, came second nationally in last year’s Red Nose Day design challenge, beating out hundreds of thousands’ of other entries to achieve runner-up.

The creation, which centred on a fairy with a hula dress design, was brought to life in 3D form and sold at Oxfam stores across the country as part of the Comic Relief fundraising initiative.

She also got a special red nose of her very own to mark her achievement, which Issy received at Rydal Pernrhos’ annual Art Exhibition on Wednesday, March 12.

The Art scholar participated in the competition as a member of the Year 6 group last year.

Mrs Morris, said: “This was such an exciting competition to enter as we all love Red Nose day and as a school we always look forward to participating in the day and wear our red noses with pride.

“The pupils were so excited about taking part in the design and creating a new red nose. It had to be a proper little character with written work to complement the design about the personality of the nose.

“We had an exciting video to watch about the event and then we had several art lessons to work on our designs.

“There were so many original ideas, and Issy’s stood out as being a real winner. She created a very delightful fairy character complete with a hula skirt.

“She faced a tough judging panel who were impressed with her originality and creativity. It will be so exciting to see Issy’s design created in 3D. I am so proud of her, well done Issy what an achievement.”
