A host of young mathematicians from across the region descended on Rydal Penrhos for a special event.

Under the guidance of Head of Maths Rhian Williams and with the support of Sixth Form pupils, each foursome were tasked with a number of problem-solving rounds designed to test numerical knowledge and ability to work as a team.
After the final scores were tallied, Ysgol Frongoch or Denbigh emerged victorious following a fantastic effort, with Ysgol Pen y Bryn A and B in second and third respectively.
Rydal Penrhos’ A team came in a respectable fourth place, with The Ryleys A, Rydal Penrhos B, The Ryleys B and Ysgol Glan Conwy rounding off the placings.
The winning team were presented with certificates from Mrs Williams and Headmaster Simon Smith, while each team also got a special Rydal Penrhos goodie bag in recognition of their commitment throughout.
Mrs Williams, said: “It was another extremely worthwhile event with plenty of healthy competition throughout, and congratulations go to Ysgol Frongoch for winning the challenge and indeed to everyone that took the time to visit us and take part.
