A large number of Preparatory School pupils were honoured at a special event to bring the curtain down on the academic year.
The young Rydal Penrhos pupils descended on the Donald Hughes Memorial Hall on Friday, July 5, where they were joined by staff and family members for the school’s annual Speech Day.
Achievements across all age groups were celebrated from what has been another memorable year at the Prep School, with Chair of Governors Julian Barnes and Executive Principal John Waszek also in attendance as special guests.
Prep School Head Alison Hind and Assistant Head Catherine Hughes opened proceedings with separate addresses, with the Reverend Nick Sissons leading those in attendance in prayer during the opening stages of the event.
All pupils from Years 3-6 were presented with a certificate for their incredible efforts of the course of the year, with individual awards given out to those who have stood out in a specific field.
A special mention was given to the Year 6 group, who were all remembered fondly by Mrs Hind and picked up a wealth of accolades.
Musical performances from the Trbel Makers, Years 3-5 and Year 6 were other notable highlights from the event, with Deputy Head Boy Cieran Milligan and Deputy Head Girl Violet Roberts taking to the pulpit to round-up the academic and co-curricular activities throughout the Prep School during the year.
Outgoing Head Boy Ellis Lister Brookes and Head Girl Grace Watkins respective address were full of laughter and emotion, and Miss Hughes closed out the ceremony with a closing speech.
Following the event, refreshments were served on the Memorial Quad by Rydal Penrhos’ catering providers Holroyd Howe.
