Budding Preparatory School skiers took full advantage of another fantastic opportunity offered by Rydal Penrhos over the half term break.
A large number of pupils, staff and parents travelled to Italy for their annual ski trip, which is one of many exciting academic and co-curricular activities organised by Rydal Penrhos’ hard-working staff in a bid to enhance learning and get the very most out of their school experience.
Head of Boys’ Games Jamie McLeod, who co-ordinated the trip, gives us a rundown of their time on the slopes:
Last week saw the annual Prep School ski trip to Italy take place, with the group once again staying in the resort of Madonna di Campiglio in the heart of the Trentino Dolomites.
The group of 26 parents and pupils made the transfer from Bergamo airport on Sunday and after having checked into the hotel and then having their ‘ski fit session’ they were all raring to go the next day.
Both pupils and parents made the most of the fantastic snow conditions and whilst they completed their ski school lessons in the morning and afternoon, many were squeezing in early runs prior to this or at lunch time.
The weather played its part in making this a memorable trip and despite a little flurry of snow on the first day or so the remaining five ski days saw blue skies and rising temperatures in what is a truly stunning part of the world.
The ski school lessons proved their worth with all pupils recording excellent progress across the week, with some making the welcome transition from the schools Thursday ski club at Llandudno slope to skiing on snow for the first time.
Whether flying down black runs, enjoying themselves on the jumps in the snow park or strolling around the beautiful town that Madonna di Campiglio is, the group had a fantastic time with the four-star hotel proving to be a family-orientated place that could not have been any more welcoming.
This was an all-round fabulous week and plans are already being made for next year’s trip.
These will be released as soon as details are confirmed.
