Rydal Penrhos welcomed a host of aspiring hockey and netball stars for a special tournament recently.
The school held its annual tournament on Saturday, March 10, which saw a large number of sides from across the region compete in the hope of achieving honours.
Denstone College were the big winners on the day, scooping a treble from the event, but there were plenty of encouraging efforts from the hosts as they continue to progress their skills under the leadership of Rydal Penrhos dedicated staff at the sports department.
The most notable achievement came from the U16A Netball side, who recovered from an opening defeat to secure a third-placed finish thanks to victories against Rossall School, Pwllheli B and Rydal Penrhos B.
The B team also performed well to finish fifth, with Niamh Smith and Beau Holden contributing significantly throughout.
The U14 Boys’ Hockey tournament saw the U14 side finish in third spot after a series of eye-catching performances, while the U12 group finished fifth in their event.
Head of Girls’ Games Nicky Head, said: “I would like to thank the senior netball players, Emily Cashell, Sam Randall, Samiya Garrod, Mollie Smithfield and Soumini Peeka, for all of their help on Saturday, managing the teams and helping to run the tournament.
“I would also like to thank Nick Fiorita and Zac Blomeley for their help and support with the boys’ Hockey tournament.”
