Two leading Sixth Form figures at Rydal Penrhos were presented with a special accolade to mark the end of their time as Head Boy and Girl.
Alex Benfield and Olivia Williams, Year 13 pupils at the school, received the Friends of Rydal Penrhos Prizes for the Heads of School in recognition of their outstanding leadership qualities throughout their time in the role.
The duo received their respective awards from former pupil Flt Lt Nathan Jones at the school’s annual Speech Day event, where they also gave their highly anticipated address that revolved around the theme of ‘September’.
It was a hugely successful spell as Head Boy and Girl for the pair, who contributed enormously throughout all areas of school life and served as fantastic role models for their fellow Sixth Formers and younger pupils living and learning at the school.
Alex captained the rugby side on their landmark tour of Japan, in addition to being part of the school’s U18 boys’ hockey side that clinched the Welsh Schools’ Championship after a thrilling victory at the Newtown final.
Boarding pupil Olivia has also been prominent in a wide range of different areas, as was chief organiser alongside Emily Cashell in the lead-up to the annual Christmas Market, which raised more than £700 for Ty Gobaith Children’s Hospice in Conwy.
The International Baccalaureate candidate also contributed to the RPS Showstoppers event in addition to a number of sporting sides and house events.
Head of Sixth Form Peter Lavery, said: “Alex and Olivia have been a credit to both themselves and the school with the way they have conducted themselves during their time as Head Boy and Girl and they can look back on the last year with a great sense of pride and accomplishment.”
