A group of Academic Scholars at Rydal Penrhos got the opportunity to use a complex mathematical tool as part of an ongoing learning initiative.
Head of Mathematics Rhian Williams conducted the latest session on Tuesday, March 12, which explored a number different problems throughout.
They began by looking at how to solve simultaneous equations graphically with the aid of the graphic display calculator, which is the latest tool implemented by staff at Rydal Penrhos in a bid to enhance learning.
This was followed by use of the calculator to plot both graphs and then examined how to find the point of intersection.
Mrs Williams, said: “It gave the scholars the chance to use to such a complex mathematical tool and they all really enjoyed themselves throughout the session, which was also pleasing.”
This is the latest in a series of sessions during the year for each pupil that has been awarded an Academic Scholarship to Rydal Penrhos, which are available for Year 7, 9 and Sixth Form pupils and involve an application process.
They have been designed with a view to providing additional information on subjects that may not feature in the general curriculum, giving the group a chance to pick up additional knowledge in a more relaxed environment.
