Rydal Penrhos School will be offering 100 per cent fee reduction places for two prospective pupils entering Sixth Form later this year.
Executive Principal John Waszek and Senior School Head Sally Ann Harding, with the approval of the Governing Body, have confirmed that the two places are available for 2019 entry in September and applications are being taken for anyone wishing to apply.
It has been a truly outstanding year for the Sixth Form community at Rydal Penrhos, which has achieved a significant amount of academic success within the diverse curriculum on offer.
This culminated in record-breaking A-level results last summer with 45.1% A*-A grades, which is the highest in the school’s history by some margin since the introduction of the A* mark.
More than a quarter of all grades were A*, which is another record, and 63.7 per cent of grades were A*-B marks as a result of their exceptional efforts.
The school also recorded a 100 per cent pass rate to round off a phenomenal year of academic excellence from the departed Year 13 group.
This academic focus is enhanced by a thriving co-curricular provision that has seen national triumphs in areas such as Sport, Music, Drama and Art, with many also taking full advantage of Rydal Penrhos’ Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme to secure Gold accolades and a trip to a royal ceremony.
Sixth Form members play a key role throughout Rydal Penrhos at community and charity events, in addition to supporting younger pupils in their Prefect and Peer Mentor roles.
The 100% fee reduction is available for children that are from a disadvantaged background that would otherwise not be able to access an independent school education. Candidates must meet our Sixth Form entry criteria.
The bursary is means tested. The joint gross income must not exceed £30,000 per annum including benefits. The family must reside in North Wales. The two places will be allocated after GCSE results are available and following an interview.
